The Ongoing Appeal of Athleisure

One notorious word – as simple as it sounds – Athleisure!

Fashion jargon is EVERYWHERE.

For someone like me, who either gets ready to go out or not at all, the term “athleisure” confuses me.

The image in my mind around 2021 when the term floated on Vogue
& all influencers were heavily promoting it was: Athlesuire = Gym clothes that look good enough to get coffee in without giving the impression that I just completed a workout???

I was right. Sort of.

Athleisure is a fashion trend that means athletic wear + casual clothing, and it has been growing in popularity & people’s closets.

The appeal of athleisure lies in its versatility, comfort, and style.

One of the main reasons why athleisure is so popular is that it can be worn for a variety of occasions. Whether you’re running errands, going to work, or meeting friends for brunch, you can wear athleisure and look fashionable while still feeling comfortable.

The all-in-one version. One thing that does many things!

PS: super satisfying for my Virgo brain, it thrives on optimization.

Often made from stretchy, moisture-wicking fabrics that move with your body, making them perfect for both low and high impact activities, athleisure offers the best of both worlds.

Brands have taken athletic wear and elevated it with trendy designs and stylish accent making it a fashion statement. Athleisure pieces come in a variety of colors, patterns, and designs, so there’s something for everyone.

Finally, & perhaps I should have mentioned this first – athleisure is appealing because it's comfortable.

With people spending more time at home, there has been a greater emphasis on comfort in fashion. Athleisure pieces are often designed to be soft and cozy, making them perfect for most occasions.

As people continue to prioritize comfort and versatility in their clothing choices, it’s likely that athleisure will continue to be a popular trend.

So tell me, do you go to the mall in sweatpants?
