Simple Ways To Be Kinder To Yourself

Cheers to living your best life

The past year has been quite a roller coaster for most of us. As we journeyed into an unknown territory, we sustained some habits and built new ones. We were sometimes kind and sometimes unavailable.

I’ll begin this post by saying that we’re constantly in flux. Morphing like butterflies. Different stages, different phases. Like the moon.

It’s easy to mistake the pains of growth for regression. Two steps forward, one step back?

Creating a space of love is not as woo-woo as it sounds. If only we understand this:

“For love to flood every being, it must emerge from the source, for the source.

You are the source. And so am I.”

This is what I tell myself. Sharing my thoughts in this space for anyone who needs it.

Stick To Your Words, Babe

In short, mean what you say. And only say what you mean.

You tell yourself, “I’ll work out tomorrow”.
You wake up and it doesn’t feel like a good day to hit the gym.
You tell yourself, “I’ll be mindful of the food I consume”.
Yet, every time you pass by a drive-through, you stop for a bottle of Sprite and a burger.
Add extra sugar to your tea.
You tell yourself, “I’ll be honest to my lovers”, but you’re in bed faking orgasms.

Little by little your faith in your being withers.

Tell me, how do you trust yourself with the inconsistency between what you say and what you do? This ain’t love. This ain’t kindness. This is axing your feet with a grin on your face.

How Do You Talk To Yourself?

Does your inner dialogue support the creation of your highest self?

We acquire in our lifetime a unique list of shitty behavior's. For example, I add too much on my to-do lists, too much food on my plate, and too many clothes in my bag. I often forget to brush my teeth and can only make my bed if it’s absolutely messy. Being a tad more vulnerable with you – sometimes I flake on my friends when I’m feeling anxious.

See, it’s easy to love yourself when your chores are complete and you’re acing life. Promotions rolling, family getting bigger, 3 holidays a year.

Pfft. Easy work. The drill begins when your life goes for a toss.

When you try building new habits and fail the first 3 weeks.

When you realize you haven’t done jack shit for your happiness in a billion years because everyone else’s emotions took front seat. Fuck. How do you talk to yourself then?

Don’t confuse compassion with indulgence though. One is a balm, the other, an active volcano.

Shake It Like Shakira!

MHMM you heard me. WORK THAT BOOTY.

Unless you’re a full-time traveler, most of us spend our days hunched over a desk. Of course it’ll tighten us up. How I wish we could dream ourselves into a healthy body!

Nope. Not in this lifetime buddy.

However, we can do little tweaks & twerks that feel good. Exercise is meant to keep thy vessel polished and primed.

It’s not about loving yourself through fat and flabbers.
It’s about loving yourself enough to do something about it.

To me, health means strength, endurance, and flexibility. Not just physically, but also mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Now, I understand running isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Most of my friends would rather walk 10 miles uphill than run a kilometer!

Here’s the news, nobody cares. Movement is personal. How you move is unique to who you are. It keeps evolving as you evolve. So dance. Practice yoga. Stretch your legs in bed. Release. Release. Release. Aah.

The truth is, to sustain any habit, there’s got to be a reason. You can read 3 blogs and hear coaches shove fitness jargon down your throat. It won’t help. You’d go back to square one as soon as the journey got tough. Because it does.

You’re used to the same sequence of working out each day but to level up, you have to play your cards differently. The only way you keep going, is when your WHY is strong. Find it.

Build a solid foundation. It’s your way forward in life.

Commit to your growth. And others will grow with you.

So tell me, how do you practice kindness towards yourself and others in your day-to-day life?
